VVT DAY!!!

Victroy for Valinora Troy day!

It's finished!

At just over 66,000 words - Black Rabbit Island is completed.

Okay, so it's rough, plot needs to be polished up a it, and the writing is not the best (quantity was demanded, not quality, after all!) but at least it's done.

Another finished unpublished novel to add to a growing pile!

I shall put it away for a couple of months and look at it some time next year.

I guess this means the end of this blog? Wwe have the T.G.I.O. party next wednesday, so I guess I'll update this blog for the last time next Thursday!

So until then...

Days Eighteen to Twenty-Two

I guess these are the really hard days for everyone. It's hard to keep going...

At least I have my 50,000 words in the bag, only the last chapter or so to write, but it's proving very difficult.

Had a good Nanowrimo meeting on Monday, though I was a bit tired during it. It turned out to be the last one - next Wednesday (this day week!) will be our T.G.I.O. Party!

Hopefully I'll have managed to complete my last 5,000 words by then...

Days Fourteen to Seventeen

Life just isn't the same now that I've reached over 50,000.

The book isn't finished but I've lots of time to do that.

Considered doing a second one during this month, but I have a few other things to give priority to, so I won't!

Day Thirteen

Unlucky for some... but not for me!

STILL CELEBRATING...

Didn't do much writing today - less than 2,500 in total - but the quality is better, I think, that yesterday's 10,000.

Inkpot reached her 50,000 yesterday as well. She hopes to be finished by Wednesday - which will be a fantastic achievement, considering she has another 15,000 words to go.

I hope to be finished by next Monday.

I suppose that will mean the end of this blog... :(

Day TWELVE

What they call a red letter day!

Today I "won" Nano! I have reached my 50,000 words!!

It feels great. Book now finished yet though - probably another ten or twelves thousand words. I hope to finsih in the next few days.

Inkpot should reach the 50,000 tonight as well so it's a double celebration!

We'll mark the occasion with a gory horror film!

Day Ten

Another good and bad day.

Got my 4000 words done but it was a hard grind - it took me all day, I even started very early and still did not get much past my daily target (should have got twice as many considering how early I started and how late I finished!)

My throughout is low but at least I'm on target!

Only 15,500 words to do to reach 50000 (35,500 to reach my personal target of 70000 words) and twenty days to do them in!

Day Nine

Almost half way...

That's just to scare myself! But well over a quarter of the way through November.

Up to 30,500 words. Pleased cos I finally I have got ahead of catelfemma (whoever she is!) though she hasn't updated her word count for two days!

Disappointed cos I had an average rather than a good day. Got c. 3000 words written but wanted 4ooo! In fact, really wanted 7000 after yesterday's disaster!

Hopefully the weekend write-in will do loads for me!

Day Eight

Look - I'm posting early today for a change!

Had quite a good day today. Pleased with my word count today - up to just over 27,000 words. Sadly I had two dramtic scenes to do and I muffed them a bit. So leaving Black Rabbit Island for the rest of the day. Time to look at other things!

Switched region affiliations today. Thought I'd send Dublin crashing through the floor and Ireland Elsewhere shooting up to the sky.

Made no differnce! :(

Ah well!

Day SEVEN!

(I know it's now Wednesday and day eight, but just pretend it's really late on Tuesday night!)

A DISASTER of a day!

Started late, finished early, and too tired inbetween to get more than 1,000 words done!

Nothing else done either - no research, no job hunting, no Christmas planning...

Will have to work doubly hard today to make up!

Day Six

Should really have blogged this last night, but felt a bit tired! Just think of this as Monday night...

My word count is now over 20,000 - I'm very pelased, all on target!

Went to one of the weekly meetings of Nanowrimo Ireland:elsewhere last night. It was excellent! Very well run by our ML, Inkpot!

It was good fun, and we got a chance to do a bit of writing. Looking forward to the next one!

Other than that, got no writing done other than about 50 words over breakfast and a couple of hundred before I went to sleep.

Hopefully get the full 4000 in today!

Day Five

Thanks to my good friend, Inkpot, my word count is now 18,026!

Inkpot is responsbile for 1,760 of those words. Which means that I have written 16,266 - my aim for four week days (ie last Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and tomorrow, Monday).

I only want to write on week days so now I'm ahead - which is good, because there will be little writen tomorrow!

Sadly, of the 18,026 words only 1,76o are the strong colourful exciting prose that I want my book to consist of. Rambling and meandering away are fine for getting the Nano quantity, I suppose.

Anyway, on target so far - that's the main thing!

Day Four

Day 4 - no writing today!

Well, I had planned not to - unfortunately it's unlikely that I'll be able to write Monday (due to fun day in Dublin!) so maybe I should try and get a few hundred in...

Have to write about 850 words to get up to 16000 - which will cover me for Monday's word count! :)

Day Three

Another day completed.

Well, it's been good and bad.

The good things:
Still on target of 4000 words per week day - in fact, slightly ahead of target. Which is great as I will be unlikely to work on it again until Tuesday next.
Finally have introduced my first zombie - hopefully pace will pick up from here.
Won a word war against Inkpot (usually destroys me!)

The bad things:
Worked slowly today.
My wrist hurts.
Nano was only meant to take up a half day of my time - but I've done nothing else! Job hunting (among other things!) has taken a back seat.
Squidgey will be very disappointed.
Especially as my memory stick is still sick.

DAY TWO

Day two - and I'm still on target.

Got my 4000+ words written - though it was tough going. I haven't got into the scary bit but I'm going to stay with my original outline & build up the characters slowly. When I edit(rewrite) the story in January (if it turns out to be worthwhile) I shall endeavour to get into the action faster.

So far, so good!

November 1 - R.S.I. Day!

Today it began.

I was later than intended, kicking off only at 4pm.

I knew the start of (this draft of) my story would be slow - and it is. Zombie stories probably should launch straight into action - I'm doing the old-fashioned slowly build up characters approach.

My target is to do 20000 words a week - 4000 per week day, giving me the weekend to catch up or to get ahead, if required.

Today I reached just over the 4000 - but my right wrist, hand and forearm all hurt!

Hope I'll be able to write tomorrow!
